Katie’s a/r/tography-based project

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUx4t4W4eVY  (Type  into  YouTube  text-box –  amazing  little  girl,  just  wish  they  had  left  out  the  sugary  euphemisms e.g.  it  comes  “from  my  heart”!)

Hi  all,

Thought  I’d  put  this  up  for  anyone  taking  a  tea-break having  submitted  final  work!   The  premise  of  my  project  is  getting  children  to  value  the  relevance  of  the  arts  in  their  lives.  It  involves  a  visual  art  element – a  traditional  finished piece  on  stretched  canvas,  a  performative  element –  piano performance   recorded  on  webcam  and  projected  alongside  finished  piece (contemporary  twist  complementing  the  traditional  and  in  a  classroom  setting,  children  respond  to  the  music  through  the  medium  of   visual  art)  and  a  literary  element- in  a  classroom  setting,  finished  piece   is  used  as  stimulus  for  constructing  a  story  (a  ‘picture  book’  of  sorts)  to  encourage  language  development.   It  is  a  practice-based, ‘making  art’  approach  directed  at  a  primary  school  setting.

Finished!!!

Karl Kleiser, piano tuner in Kleiser’s piano shop, Thomas St.. takes apart broken pianos and restores them, and my project is researched around restoring children’s interests in the arts in a ‘Wii’ obsessed generation!

Hello everyone!

The deadline is almost here!

I took a video a few weeks ago of a leak in our college house to show the effects of time, but it won’t upload sooooo here’s one I got from you tube.

It shows how time can mean damage.

Thanks to the art team for all the help and will miss you orange gals! 🙂

Time is nearly up…

Here are some images from Some artists which have influenced my ed project!!

What is on my mind…

Funnily enough the whole Europe (at least almost) is completely messed up because of this vulcano operating around there. Here is two videos linked to this event. Just to show that I know how to link videos in here.

But all this makes me think even more. That actually we have very little power when it comes to Planet Earth. Imagine this and how it is effecting Europe and at the same time the whole world. Of course this is different that events in Haiti before, but what is similar is that we can’t do anything before. Or is it so that if we stop littering or other kinds of polluting habits we are able to stop also vulcanos from working.

If I wouldn’t be here in Ireland and my whole come back to home in Finland wouldn’t be depending of flights and how they are operating, I would only think that it’s a good thing that we have to reduce amounts of flights. But now it’s different. Let’s see how everything is working out and do I get place from ferry at least.

………..

Hope everyone’s weekend is going along swimmingly!  I’m up to my ears in double-sided tape – the sticking just never ceases to end! I’d just thought i’d give a final update on my project… it’s nearly there now just sticking the final parts of it together… the actual journal though will make it a long long night!

this is our apple by the way!  isn’t she lovely??

Still Life with… Students!

Hey guys, just a quick (last-minute) update on the progress with my project. I’ve got the biggest part of the photography element completed, but there’s still a chance for more people to participate between now and this time tomorrow! I’m focusing on student-life, comparing and contrasting the various focal points of different living-spaces. Most of the focus has been on kitchens and/or sitting rooms, but a few generous volunteers have granted further access to other rooms too. Here’s a small sample selection of the pictures I’ll be exhibiting.
