Monday 12th – Polish off the Fruit, & some pizza…

Ahem… Calling all Fruit Experts – Monday 12th – 4pm till late…

Easter is upon us, the work load is building, plenty of textures & painterly finishes are under way by diligent fingers… let’s draw a definite close to the finishing of the fruit in style, we propose to have an extended workshop session, all hands on deck, on Monday 12th April. Denis will be in studio with us & will be introducing us all to the technology of the installation, and this will be a main focus of the scheduled session – BUT – let’s extend this session into the evening by having:

A Fruit Polishing Pizza & Pop Party!

Oh yes, truly inspired – some hard work into the evening, completing those giant juicy lemons & oranges, apples & grapes, while munching on some tasty pizza… what could be better!?

Once finished the party could move towards the public house to imbibe some home brew…

What say you!?! Are you with me! Fight to the finish, Lets Polish off them Fruits!

A huge well done to Marianne & Ashley for conducting an extremely professional interview with Anne, it is more like a peer led conversation really – it’s so interesting to listen to… I won’t say any more ‘cos I want ye all tuning into Wired FM to hear the final cut!

The Thursday we come back after Easter Break we’ll get into the Radio Studio & make the edit – and hopefully it’ll be on the airwaves in April! So everyone, get ready to gather round the wireless… just like them ol’ times 🙂

Well done again guys.

Hello there Fruit makers

I hear the fruit are coming on well.

I’ve been working on the carpet design at 1:1 scale. Here’s a detail of the four fruit, the basic motif that will be repeated across the whole carpet. I was inspired by slot machines!

Let me know what you think

Denis

I’ve gone back to my original idea again on just questioning the whole idea of still life. Thinking of a kind social experiment where i’ll get get individuals to stand still for a period of time in an area maybe around college or the city etc. I’ll document this with videos photos etc. Then ask these people to document how they felt standing still while the rest of the world moved around them. Most of us don’t have time just to be still for a while so it will be interesting to get their feedback on how it felt. For a finished piece i was thinking of getting a group of people maybe 10/12 to stand still in a busy area like a train station or somewhere where there would be a lot of people. Kind of like the whole flashmob thing and videoing this. Think it will be fun to link to the classroom as well since most children find it pretty difficult to stay still! Anyone have ne ideas on what else I can do with this??

Storytelling?

hey guys.. took me forever to figure this out 😦 but eventually got there..

after talking to Anne Marie this week ive decided to base my ed project on storytelling ang maye illustrating a small book! ive been looking at tim burton’s alice in wonderland for ideas and also many childrens books.. i also was thinking of looking at the aspect of consumerism and designing some things with my creations.. its all based on mythical creatures..

would love to hear what ye think..

🙂

Go Oranges!!!

Just want to say to all the orange group.. well done for pulling it together on wednesday. I know it was a long day but was worth it to see the progress that we made! Looking forward to the challenge of the cous cous texture covering and getting them done and dusted next week!!

Also was chatting with Sinead last week about the educational project. Have decided to focus on stop motion film… having a bit of fun wit the idea of putting still life into motion.. all will be revealed!!

Sinead – here is the stop motion video I was telling you about the post-its. Enjoy!!! 🙂

Ed project

Hi guys,

Just said i’d leave a note to say i’ve dropped the evolution idea of the chicken and the egg after talking to Ann Marie last week. Instead i’ve decided to look into the idea of shadow puppetry and its potential for a child’s creativity. I’m looking into different styles and uses of shadow puppetry, its history and how it has developed before deciding on an exact route to follow but i’m thinking of either incorporating a well-known children’s story into it or dramatising a song through shadow puppetry.  I’ve been looking into shadow puppetry on youtube and came across a few interesting ideas.
Jack and the Beanstalk shadow puppetry with a realistic background.
Guillemots – “Annie let’s not wait” shadow puppet music video.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated,

Laura

wahoo apples!!

hello! apples we’ve done class work in the past few days- it actually looks like an apple.. or a peach! its getting exciting now that we can actually see some results… 🙂

I starting researching anamorphic art and victorian shadow puupets 4 my project, it’ll involve the bell of a trombone and how it distorts pictures and objects etc.. I’ve been trying to upload a picture but it won’t let me… Doc2 I’ve done it! have a nice day-:)
